Did Crowd Rules Get Canceled?

Crowd Rules A No Show Episode #3

What an exciting Tuesday night waiting for the Crowd Rules to air the third episode of the new business reality show. I first check CNBC's FaceBook page for the Crowd Rules and see they have not updated it since last week and no mention of the third episode that's about to come on. Hm, a brand new show trying to build a new audience but is not engaging the folks that took the time to publicly "Like" the show? O.K. maybe they just don't like FaceBook and prefer to Live Chat with their new Friends on Twitter.

I search for the obvious @CrowdRules on Twitter and see this is available for registration. Really? I'm starting to wonder what one of my favorite t.v. station which I have been watching for years, CNBC, is not even trying to promote their new reality show online. We'll surly Kendra Scott and Pat Kiernan have twitter accounts and maybe they are going to live tweet much like the Sharks from the Shark Tank do.

Kendra Scott does tweet in the early afternoon that the Crowd Rules Show will in fact be on later tonight. Ah, good, at least I'm not wasting my time waiting for this show to come on sometime tonight. Maybe I just got the time wrong at it will be on next. I check Pat Kiernan's twitter and he also confirms that Crowd Rules will indeed be on Tuesday Night.

Time passes and Pat FINALLY tweets "Tues 9 pm time slot was not kind to . Network trying to find a better spot for remaining episodes." This was way After the Show was already scheduled to air. This was also his last tweet for the night with no other explanation. His first tweet the next morning is promoting another show.
Kendra on the other hand makes no mention about the new show she is co-hosting on, but instead decides promoting some contest she is running is much more important.

Crowd Rules Ratings Suck

After the first two episodes aired bringing in barely over 40,000 viewers in each of the first two episodes, apparently the producer's already seem eager to pull the plug before they even give the show a chance. In fact the rating were so bad that Kiernan's show seen in New York beat out Crowd Rules on a national level. OUCH.

But why? How could a new business reality show fail so badly when it is being seen on the largest Business Channel in the world? Why would CNBC tape 8 episodes and give Crowd Rules a lot of attention on the channel but completely forget about how important Social Networking is in building a loyal following. Whatever CNBC spent on making Crowd Rules into a show, adding just one more person responsible for building up their social network presence, most likely would of made a huge difference. Some kind of a contest, some kind of an incentive to watch the show or re-tweet about it, some kind of ANYTHING to get this show kick started in the right direction.

Having Co-Host's that genuinely care if the show succeeds would probably also help. Unfortunately it looks like both Scott and Kiernan were left out of the loop and were not even aware that the executives decided to cancel Crowd Rules episode #3. Even if that is the case, it's no excuse for them BOTH to promote other ventures before even mentioning what happened last night.

I'm a little disappointed to say the least but there still is time. It's a Great Idea that I know a lot of people will be interested in watching, but not if CNBC is willing to give it a fighting chance and start building an audience one fan at a time. The Shark Tank also had dismal ratings in season 1 and a very short season 2. But they Never Gave Up and now it is one of ABC's biggest hits.

I do hope that CNBC will at least finish airing the remainder 6 episodes they have already taped and give those Entrepreneurs the attention they deserve and were expecting from participating on Crowd Rules.

Did you Watch Crowd Rules?

What did you think about the Show? Does it even have a chance?

Personally I think it would be a lot better if they got away from the "game show" aspects and made it more personable like the Shark Tank Show.
