Did Crowd Rules Get Canceled?

Crowd Rules A No Show Episode #3

What an exciting Tuesday night waiting for the Crowd Rules to air the third episode of the new business reality show. I first check CNBC's FaceBook page for the Crowd Rules and see they have not updated it since last week and no mention of the third episode that's about to come on. Hm, a brand new show trying to build a new audience but is not engaging the folks that took the time to publicly "Like" the show? O.K. maybe they just don't like FaceBook and prefer to Live Chat with their new Friends on Twitter.

I search for the obvious @CrowdRules on Twitter and see this is available for registration. Really? I'm starting to wonder what one of my favorite t.v. station which I have been watching for years, CNBC, is not even trying to promote their new reality show online. We'll surly Kendra Scott and Pat Kiernan have twitter accounts and maybe they are going to live tweet much like the Sharks from the Shark Tank do.

Kendra Scott does tweet in the early afternoon that the Crowd Rules Show will in fact be on later tonight. Ah, good, at least I'm not wasting my time waiting for this show to come on sometime tonight. Maybe I just got the time wrong at it will be on next. I check Pat Kiernan's twitter and he also confirms that Crowd Rules will indeed be on Tuesday Night.

Time passes and Pat FINALLY tweets "Tues 9 pm time slot was not kind to . Network trying to find a better spot for remaining episodes." This was way After the Show was already scheduled to air. This was also his last tweet for the night with no other explanation. His first tweet the next morning is promoting another show.
Kendra on the other hand makes no mention about the new show she is co-hosting on, but instead decides promoting some contest she is running is much more important.

Crowd Rules Ratings Suck

After the first two episodes aired bringing in barely over 40,000 viewers in each of the first two episodes, apparently the producer's already seem eager to pull the plug before they even give the show a chance. In fact the rating were so bad that Kiernan's show seen in New York beat out Crowd Rules on a national level. OUCH.

But why? How could a new business reality show fail so badly when it is being seen on the largest Business Channel in the world? Why would CNBC tape 8 episodes and give Crowd Rules a lot of attention on the channel but completely forget about how important Social Networking is in building a loyal following. Whatever CNBC spent on making Crowd Rules into a show, adding just one more person responsible for building up their social network presence, most likely would of made a huge difference. Some kind of a contest, some kind of an incentive to watch the show or re-tweet about it, some kind of ANYTHING to get this show kick started in the right direction.

Having Co-Host's that genuinely care if the show succeeds would probably also help. Unfortunately it looks like both Scott and Kiernan were left out of the loop and were not even aware that the executives decided to cancel Crowd Rules episode #3. Even if that is the case, it's no excuse for them BOTH to promote other ventures before even mentioning what happened last night.

I'm a little disappointed to say the least but there still is time. It's a Great Idea that I know a lot of people will be interested in watching, but not if CNBC is willing to give it a fighting chance and start building an audience one fan at a time. The Shark Tank also had dismal ratings in season 1 and a very short season 2. But they Never Gave Up and now it is one of ABC's biggest hits.

I do hope that CNBC will at least finish airing the remainder 6 episodes they have already taped and give those Entrepreneurs the attention they deserve and were expecting from participating on Crowd Rules.

Did you Watch Crowd Rules?

What did you think about the Show? Does it even have a chance?

Personally I think it would be a lot better if they got away from the "game show" aspects and made it more personable like the Shark Tank Show.

McLaughlin, aka Chef Johnny, walked into uncharted waters with two other small businesses which only one could walk away with the $50,000.00 Prize. With so much at stake for all 3 Entrepreneur's, not to mention for CNBC and a Brand New Season Premiere, everyone was at the top of their game. The competition was tough but in the end, Chef Johnny's passion for his specialty food sauces won the crowd over hands down.

Heartbreaking Dawns History

Johnny and Nicole first started growing their own hot peppers not as a business opportunity but for the love they each shared for creating really hot sauces. The more the couple experimented the better their secret spicy sauces began to mature into the "perfect spice blends" for all tastes. After an overwhelming positive reviews from Friends and Family they started going to the local festivals and soon had a loyal following within the Hot Sauce Community. HeartBreaking Dawns became a full fledged business in 2008 and is now available in at least 14 countries around the world. With a very impressive line of products from BBQ sauce's, to dry rubs and the Hottest Hot Sauce you could ever imagine, Heartbreaking Dawns really does have a perfect sauce for everyone.

HeartBreaking Dawns after Crowd Rules Update

The competition may of seemed close in the first two rounds of voting but in the end the Crowd (the audience of 97 voters) spoke loud and clear by a 2-to1 ratio and awarded McLaughlin the $50,000.00 prize money to further develop the Heart Breaking Dawns Brand.

So how did Johnny feel after winning the very first episode of Crowd Rules? You can hear him in his own words in the video below and you just know that money will be going to good use. His passion for the specialty hot sauce business really does shine through.

Host on The Crowd Rules Show
If your going to be a judge and co-host on a new Reality Business Show you best know a thing or two about running a successful business. Having a very likable personality in front of the camera doesn't hurt either. Kendra Scott is not only a Very Successful Entrepreneur but She is a natural  when the cameras are rolling. This along with other great qualities has won Kendra Scott a job as the new Judge and co-host for CNBC's new Crowd Rules Show with Pat Kiernan.

With a Dream and $500.00 she spent on jewelry grade stones just 11 years ago, Kendra has grown her jewelry line into a multi-million dollar empire. The Kendra Scott Jewelry Line is now available in over 800 retail stores across the world in stores such as Nordstrom's and Heidi Bendel. Scott now employs over 50 full time workers to help her keep up with the demand at Her headquarters in Austin, TX. The growing line has been so successful that she has been able to open up her own retail stores in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Beverly Hills and Scottsdale, Arizona.

Taking an idea that Kendra clearly has a passion for and turning it into a multi million dollar empire won Kendra an award for the #1 Fastest Growing Company in Austin last year in 2012. The media attention, as well as many other awards, got the attention of the producer's of CNBC and The Crowd Rules Show. She gladly accepted to try out for the Reality Based Show and have a say on which business will win the $50,000.00 Prize.

Scott was a Natural for this Reality Business Show and She soon secured her position as a permanent Host and Judge on Crowd Rules. No doubt this will also help build the Kendra Scott Design Brand into an even bigger success and soon to be a household name.

Pat Kiernan Host on Crowd Rules

Pat Kieman on Crowd Rules Show

Meet The Judges on Crowd Rules
Kiernan tries out for the "Live with Regis and Kelly Show"
Pat Kiernan on the "Live with Kelly Show"
Pat Kienan is one of the new permanent judge's on the Crowd Rules Show on CNBC with a very impressive background. If your from the New York area you most likely know him as the anchor on NY1. Pat is by no means a stranger to the camera and has already been involved with several game shows including The World Series of Pop Culture. Kieman also has a very impressive list of Movies he's been involved with mostly playing himself as a reporter.

Perhaps most people will remember Kienan from a year ago when he tried out and almost won one of the most coveted jobs in front of the camera. When Regis Philbin retired from the "Live with Regis and Kelly ShowKieman along with 58 other hopefuls tried out for the vacant spot sitting next to Kelly Ripa.

If you watched the Show when Pat co-hosted with Kelly it was obvious they did have a good connection in front of the camera and many thought that the job would go to him. Unfortunately he did not get the job that ultimately went to Michael Strahan. But in less then a year he has secured his spot on the next business reality show and co-host for Crowd Rules.

Fortunately for Pat they are shooting the Crowd Rules Show in the same building in New York where he also tapes the NY1 Show. This guy is Hungry and is willing to go the extra mile to make sure "All" the Shows Must Go On. Picking up an added pay check from down the hall probably doesn't hurt either but you can not put a price on his future earnings going forward, especially after The Crowd Rules becomes a Big Success and a household name.

The is a huge boost to Pat's career and most likely we will be seeing a lot more of Kiernan for many more years to come. Who knows, some day he may even take over Kelly's Job. "Live with Pat Show"

Crowd Rules #101

Crowd Rules on CNBC

Episode #101 - Specialty Foods
Season Premire, episode #101
Johnny McLaughlin is one of the first contestant's
of the Crowd Rules Show on CNBC
The very first episode of the Reality Show "Crowd Rule's" got off to a very successful start on the first season premiere that aired on May 14, 2013.  During each episode the three Entrepreneur's are competing for $50,000.00 in cash to help their businesses expand. Each episode has a different theme with the first episode covering the Specialty Foods Market. The Host's for the new reality show making their Debut are Kenda Scott and Pat Kiernan. The first Guest Host and noted authority in the specialty foods business is Elizabeth Chamber's. The very first businesses representing this field are Pickle Licous, Mr. Green Tea and Heart Breaking Dawns Hot Sauce.

Meet the first contestants of CNBC "Crowd Rules".

Pickle Licous owner Robyn Samra, aka The Pickle Lady, has been in the pickle business for over 20 years serving up a very large variety of her treats. The Pickle Licous Store is located in Teaneck, N.J. which is most famous for for their Pickle-on-a-stick which all new customer's can try for free.

Mr. Green Tea is a business owned by the Emanuele Family. Tea is not their specialty but gourmet ice cream made from tea leaves is. Mr. Green Tea Ice Cream was first started in the 1960's and is now co-run by the founder's Son and Grandson in Keyport, N.J.

Heartbreaking Dawns is a line of BBQ Sauces started by Johnny McLaughlin in Wycoff, N.J. Chef Johnny has been perfecting an entire line of specialty BBQ Sauces that has something for everyone which was proven to be a winner when he was featured on the Food Network Channel.

Special Guest Host for Epidose #101

Tonight's theme is "Specialty Foods" which Elizabeth Chambers is a clear expert at in this field. Chambers is the founder of the very successful Bird Bakery Business in San Antonio, TX. which she has won numerous awards for. She has also hosted several Shows on FOX, NBC, CBS and FOX Business Network to name a few.

Crowd Rules Recap from Episode #101

Mr. Green Tea and the Emanuele Family got off to a great start which had them leading the competition with the judges after a brief overview of all the businesses. Each contestant is given a chance to tell the judges what they would use the $50,000.00 if they win the Crowd Rules contest. Johnny McLaughlin and his heartbreaking Dawn BBQ Sauce was a close second as the judges REALLY seemed to like his secret sauces. The Pickle Lady and her Daughter had a solid plan to expand the business but the competition was fierce as only one can win.

Elizabeth Chamber's was sent to all three businesses prior to the taping of Crowd Rules which She video taped what she had learned during her visit. Robyn the Pickle Lady was doing an exceptional an amount of sales but was unsure which products out of dozens to choose from was selling the best. Not keeping track of your inventory did not sit good with either Chamber's or the other judges but they all really liked the product and the sales thus far.

Mr. Green Tea is a popular gourmet ice cream business with their main customers from high end restaurants with very little marketing going directly to the consumer. The stores that did carry the Mr. Green Tea products seemed to be having trouble keeping it in stock. This could actually be a good thing, that is if you can keep up with demand and be united in your business decisions. It appears that the younger Emanuele wants to grow with the times and envisions a much larger company then his business partner/ Dad has in mind. A Family that is not united, especially when it comes to money and business decisions, can have a dramatic effect on the bottom line.

When Elizabeth visited Johnny McLaughlin and the HeartBreaking Dawns Headquarters there was one thing that really stood out besides how many variety of sauces he carries, and that was pure passion for developing the Best BBQ Sauces in the world. It was very evident that Johnny eats, sleeps and breathes Heartbreak Dawns sauces on his continued effort to perfect his recipes.

Heartbreaking Dawns Wins the First Crowd Rules Show

In the end the majority of the 100 voters loved the collection of hot sauces and determined that Johnny McLaughlin had the best plan to grow his specialty foods business.and was awarded the very first $50,000.00 Cash Prize Money in episode #101.

So whats it like to be the very winner of a soon to be famous new reality show? You can hear McLaughlin explain what it's was like to win the very first Crowd Rules Show in his own words in the video below.

New reality show Crowd Rules
Crowd Rules Business Competition
Tuesday Nights 9.p.m. eastern
As most of you already know I am a Huge Fan of the Business Reality Show the Shark Tank. In fact you might even say I am one of their biggest fans because it is REAL and not scripted like so many so called reality shows. I also love to learn about new businesses and the creative ways that people are making money by following their dreams. We'll I'm happy to report my other favorite show that I have been watching every morning for over a decade, CNBC has come out with their own Business Reality Show called Crowd Rules. Great timing? Well considering the season 4 of the Shark Tank ended just as Crowd Rules was making it's debut I would have to say that's an overwhelming Yes.

The main difference between the Shark Tank Show and Crowd Rules is one you are offering a percentage of your business for a set amount of money and the other you are guaranteed a $50,000.00 infusion into your business if you can convince the panel of 100 judges you have the best plan to succeed in the future. There can only be one winner on the Crowd Rules Show as the other contestants leave empty handed with the exception of having their business seen on national t.v.

Rules for the Crowd Rules Show

Each episode has Kendra Scott and Pat Kiernan as permanent host's for the show. The entire episode revolves around a theme that all 3 contestants businesses have in common like the Specialty Foods theme used in Season 1 episode #101. They then introduce a Featured Guest Judge that is considered an expert within that theme.

What makes Crowd Rules really stand out from other business reality shows is the fact the audience totalling 97 people have the biggest say on who will get the $50,000.00 prize money. With a total of 100 judges ( 3 Judges and 97 in the audience) they go through a series of votes where you can change your vote as you learn more about the business and what they intend to do if they win the money.

Crowd Rules Success

A business reality show on the biggest business t.v. channel on the planet seems like a very good idea to me. It's a little different at first mainly because there is no other show to compare it too where the audience has a majority vote in which business deserves the money the most. Just like the Shark Tank in whether you make a deal or not, the exposure on being Featured on National T.V. Show can have a drastic positive effect on your business and it's bottom line.

Have you seen Crowd Rules on CNBC on Tuesday Nights yet? What did you think? Would you try out for the Show with a $50,000.00 prize and mass exposure for your business?

It may not be held in the same light as the Shark Tank Show, at least not yet, but it is a great way to learn about new businesses and how they are running their companies. What could possibly be better then watching a t.v. show where you can actually learn something new and get inspired at pursuing your own Dreams?
